You'll want to make sure your backpack is clean before heading out on your next journey. Keep your backpack working its best by following these cleaning instructions provided below.
Pay attention to the directions. Read the manufacturer's cleaning instructions before you start washing your backpack. Unless otherwise noted, most bags should be hand-washed rather than machine-washed. After all, you don't want any blood or filth residue in your washing machine.
Dismantle it. If your backpack is made up of several pieces, disassemble it before washing it. Remove the belt, straps, and other parts so you may clean them properly.
Soak it. If your bag gets stained with blood, soak it in ice cold water for a few minutes. Set aside a plastic container or bin to clean your equipment. Fill the plastic bin halfway with water and a couple of ice bags. Your hose's cold water won't be chilly enough. Allow 30 minutes for your pack to soak.
Hand wash only. Because your bag has been saturated, you will most likely not need to scrape it with a brush. To clean the material, all you have to do is give it a nice hand wash.
Rinse and repeat as needed. Dump out the unclean water after the first wash and start over. Add some detergent this time. Use a detergent designed particularly for hunting clothes and equipment. Allow your pack to soak in the soapy water for 20 minutes. Once it’s done soaking and all the stains are removed, give your gear a good rinse.
Air dry. After you've finished cleaning your backpack, hang it up to dry. This will help prevent any smells and preserve buckles and zippers in good functioning condition.
